Algoma and Kewaunee combined for more than 64,000 chinooks last year, about 30 percent of the entire statewide estimate of 214,621. It was the 14th straight year Kewaunee County led the state in the "king" catch.
KC's total was about 2,000 more than the catch of Manitowoc, Two Rivers, Sheboygan and Port Washington combined. Eastern Door County, with an estimate of 35,000, was second.
